THE CREW BEHIND NORTHWIND
Just a few engineers who like to fish.
Northwind started pretty simply. We’re a group of engineers based out of the South Shore, MA, who spend just about all our free time in the salt. Like anyone else who fishes the North Atlantic, we’ve spent plenty of nights frustrated by gear that didn't hold up or just didn't cast the way it was supposed to.
Because of our background, we couldn't help but look at our tackle boxes and think, "We can make this better."
Doing the work.
We aren't trying to reinvent the wheel; we’re just trying to make it more reliable. We use the tools we know—CAD software and prototyping—to get the physics right before we ever hit the water. For us, it’s not about being "high-tech" for the sake of it. It’s about making sure a lure casts straight into a headwind and doesn't fall apart the first time it hits a rock.
Proven, not just produced.
The main thing to know about us is this: We will not sell a product we don't believe in. We don't care about release schedules or "new" seasonal colors. We’re busy out on the water trying to find the weak spots in our designs and breaking prototypes so you don’t have to. Nothing we build goes up for sale until it’s been thoroughly proven in the surf and we’re 100% sure it’s ready for your bag.
We're just trying to build better tools for the job. Thanks for following along. Enjoy the process.
